At Stichting Hoop Voor Honden, everything revolves around one thing: the dog's happiness.

We take in dogs from both home and abroad who require extra care, dogs who have experienced trauma, behavioral problems, or neglect. For them, we are here, step by step, with patience, knowledge, and a big heart.

While others often only help at the beginning of the process, we guide the dogs from start to finish. From intake to rehabilitation and rehoming, we ensure every dog receives the attention and care they deserve.

Our team combines a love for animals with professional expertise. We are certified, trained, and experienced, and we spare no effort to see dogs happy and safe again. No rush, no time pressure, just pure quality and dedication.

What can you expect from a dog from abroad or a rehomed dog?

A foreign or rehomed dog often has a past. This means they need time to adjust to a new environment, new people, sounds, and routines. The first few weeks are primarily about adapting and settling down. During this period, the dog may exhibit behaviors you didn't expect. They might be anxious, uncertain, withdrawn, or even hyperactive. This is normal and part of the processing and learning experience. Behavior can fluctuate initially and is not a definitive picture of who the dog truly is. These dogs require structure, clear boundaries, and predictability. Training and guidance are often necessary for issues such as house-training, being left alone, walking on a leash, and handling stimuli. A foreign or rehomed dog is not a ready-made pet. Development takes time and can sometimes take months. With patience, calm, and love, a deep and special bond can develop, built on trust and security.
