Honey is a beautiful Mastin mix from Spain with a remarkable story. She ended up in a shelter as a puppy along with her siblings. Unfortunately, she remained there much longer than necessary because the manager struggled to part with the dogs. After the shelter closed, Honey finally got her chance and was adopted in the Netherlands.
Unfortunately, things did not go as hoped. During a thunderstorm, Honey managed to escape and wandered alone through a large city for over three weeks. Fortunately, she was eventually caught, but the experience left her feeling insecure. It soon became clear that Honey functions best with at least one stable, confident dog by her side.
Honey is doing incredibly well in her current pack. She lives alongside dogs, cats, chickens, and children, interacting with everyone in a friendly and calm manner. She is a sensitive dog who needs time and space to build trust, but once that trust is established, she truly blossoms and is ready to take on the world.
Honey now walks nicely on the leash and is no longer unsettled by passing people or traffic. She is sociable with other dogs and cats she encounters and walks neatly by your side. In a safe environment, she can also walk off-leash and listens well.
She is capable of staying home alone, but she doesn't like being by herself for long periods. That’s why we are looking for a home where she can spend plenty of time with her human(s). Otherwise, she is an easy-going dog: she travels calmly in the car and shows no signs of food or bowl guarding.
Honey has tested positive for leishmaniasis and is receiving allopurinol for it. She shows no symptoms and behaves like a young, energetic dog: she plays, runs, and thoroughly enjoys life.
When Honey finds something unsettling, she is more likely to flee or freeze. She has never shown aggression. She is an incredibly sweet and gentle animal.
For Honey, we are looking for:
- A calm, stable household
- At least one other stable dog
- People with patience and understanding for her past
- An environment where she can feel safe and continue to grow.
Are you the person who can offer Honey the peace, safety, and love she so richly deserves? Then please contact us, and perhaps you can meet this special dog.
