Our hearts knew it right away… our heads just needed a little longer to catch up. Frenkie was in our care as a foster last year...
Frenkie was in our care last year, and she was wonderful when we let her go.
When she came back so broken, so lost it was a sight you wouldn’t wish on any dog. We see her growing every day: a small step forward, a little more calm, a little more confidence. Moving ever closer to who she truly is.
Frenkie has so often been misunderstood and, as a result, mistreated. Yes, she exhibited difficult behavior—behavior that sometimes even led to volatile situations. I certainly don’t deny that, but what was so often missing was someone who looked beyond the behavior itself. Someone who asked themselves: where is this coming from? Why is she doing this?
Rejection after rejection followed… and she never again knew what it was like to truly feel at home somewhere.
Until now.
She is home. Truly home. She is staying with us.
We see her insecurity, her strength, and her wonderful qualities. We see how she has integrated into our pack. How she dares to trust a little more each day.
And without having to say it out loud, we knew it… we would never let her go.
