Meet Toto: a big mouth, a soft heart, and a whole lot of humor!

Toto is a young dog, estimated to be just over a year old, weighing 16 kg and standing 35–40 cm tall. This is an age when he should be fully immersed in discovering the world, playing, and enjoying life but, unfortunately, Toto has had very little reason to truly enjoy himself so far.

His life began in Romania, where he was kept on a chain. After a stay with a rescuer, he was able to make the long journey to the Netherlands. Unfortunately, his adoptive family turned out not to be the right match and that wasn't for a lack of effort. Both Toto and his owners truly did their best, but sometimes, no matter how much you want it to work, it simply isn't the right fit.

Toto was given a great deal of freedom, without the guidance he so desperately needed. This led to behaviors that his owners could no longer manage. With heavy hearts, they had to acknowledge that Toto was not in the right environment and that is how he ended up with us.

And what a little fellow he turns out to be!

We’ve come to know Toto as an incredibly sweet, fun, and, above all, comical dog. He has a great sense of humor, a distinct personality, and an ego that’s sometimes just a little bit bigger than his heart and bark, but a soft heart underneath!

Toto is not afraid of the world. He enjoys going for walks, is friendly toward people he meets along the way, gets along well with other dogs, and he thinks cats are wonderful too!

But Toto also has a vulnerable side. At times, he becomes insecure or a bit jealous, and he starts acting tough talking a big game, so to speak. This calls for someone who understands him and is skilled at reading his behavior. After all, anyone who misinterprets his insecurity and approaches him as if he were an aggressive dog could actually cause the situation to escalate.

Toto is not the right dog for someone who lets things just happen, nor is he for someone who prefers a heavy-handed approach. He needs someone who is calm, clear, and consistent and someone who helps him understand what is expected of him, where "no" truly means "no" and "yes" truly means "yes." He requires someone who can provide structure and build his confidence, helping him discover, step by step, that the world has so many wonderful things to offer.

Who are we looking for for Toto?

We are looking for an owner with a sense of humor, an understanding of dog behavior, and a willingness to truly put in the work with him someone who wants to learn, take on activities, and grow alongside him. Someone who can appreciate his funny antics, but who will also set boundaries for him with love whenever necessary.

Toto has no need for pity. What he needs is a fair chance someone who can look past that big little mouth of his to see what lies beneath. He is a young dog who still has a great deal to learn, who requires clear guidance, and who with the right support has an incredible amount of potential.

He has already been through quite a lot for such a young dog. It is high time he gets to experience what it’s like to truly be at home somewhere.
Are you the person who can guide Toto toward a bright future with a sense of humor, patience, clear boundaries, and love?
If so, we truly hope you’ll consider stepping forward for him. Because behind that cheeky little face lies a sweet soul who still has so much wonderful love to give.
